Remembering Apo Manaoag

The last time we visited Manaoag was way back 2001 upon the prodding of my mom who had been hospitalized for hypertension the past two years before that. We cleared off our schedules and tag along my mother-in-law, who wanted to attend mass at Manaoag church, as well.

Googling newer photos of the church’s facade, I find no major difference than the photo below. I guess, no renovations had been made ever since.

It is a two-hour drive (or even less) going to Manaoag from our town. My mom passed away in 2002, my mother-in-law passed away last year…I guess, we lacked the alibi for visiting. I don’t know. The town is very accessible from here. No traffic. And, with very proximity to the sea, where one can enjoy family night out with rented cottages and videoke and lots of boneless Bangus at the nearer San Fabian beach. I missed the beach, though.

What had happened for our long absence visiting the church where the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary is enshrined? It’s been 10 years! When almost every town peeps I know would go tour the place (or is the beaches?) come summertime. I must have the answer.

Enveloped by the dogma that is corrupting one’s mind, coupled with theorizing the laxity in my own tenets, I succumbed myself to a “Catholic by religion, but not in practice”.

Forgive my insanity. But, I beg to proclaim, I may find faults in practices and beliefs, but what remains in tact is, MY FAITH TO MY CREATOR.

Being somewhat peculiar in my thoughts today.
